ART LIVE TURNS FIVE!
The Chelsea season was officially opened this past Thursday with the fifth annual Art Live, ART LIVE 2011.
Police helicopters swarmed the sky and hovered over the crowds unsure of riotous celebration or political unrest. As gallerists flocked to the attention they were greeted by close to a thousand onlookers; all enjoying the spectacle of visual inundation.
Expectations ran high and the record-breaking attendance did not disappoint as over a dozen international artists flew in and descended upon the celebration. Attendance continued throughout the weekend at a fever's pitch despite the traditional holiday exodus.
Visitors were witness to a collection of 41 works from 39 artists representing 28 countries. The brilliant curation is direct and apparent in its conciseness. One can truly understand the founding principals of Art Live; that of understanding the world we currently live in and the curiously common thread that is drawn, pulling us together as one.
Call on your congressmen and representatives to see ART LIVE 2011 for a betterment of perspective!

http://www.onoarte.com/html/exhibitions.html | | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Shriftman Media, New York, New York June 27, 2011 Love is truly in the air as Dirk Janssens' Made In Wonderland exhibition continues its compulsiveness. Some people see this visual matchmaker and conceptualist as reactionary to the troubling unrest in our world today; a direct response to the overburdening responsibilities of war and persistent economic crisis. Janssens' work is indeed respite and optimistic in nature and will always be relevant despite such tumultuous times. His attempt to refocus priorities to those of esoteric love has revealed and brought to light this proven underlying need to the forefront of public consciousness. He has successfully created an oasis where people spontaneously hug and embrace in the otherwise coldly removed art community that has become a Chelsea standard. We congratulate CATM and Dirk Janssens for bringing such positive warmth to the hood. Popular Art has just been redefined and that new definition is Dirk Janssens' LoveArt | | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Shriftman Media, New York, New York, May 21, 2011 From exacting interpretations to the unraveling of hidden mystery ULYSSES" REVELATION has proven to be a tour de force, successful on multiple levels. The question of Pelagius reawakens and the Manichaean ideal reemerges. From centuries of slumber there are forces at work reexamining the schismatic theological shortcomings of doctrined religion. And Baha'u'llah continues in principle... Even though at a moment's glance by the rational, with Ulysses' allure appearing to continue the expectations of Blake, it is all but fruitless. As prophetic as they would like to interpret Blake's work, his followers all overlook one rudimentary fact, and that is , Blake never took the role as prophet. Ulysses on the other hand has no further compunctions to lay claim to the path that others before him have taken. During its first full day of viewing an unassuming girl of short stature and rasping voice paused in front of "Subconscious" and, unsolicited, described Revelation as breaking through Heaven and Hell, leaving with an all too familiar smile and echoing laughter in her voice...another dear friend has journeyed a great distance to coyly tease... With the show's grace, behold the love of the truth by all. | | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Shriftman Media, New York, New York, April 11, 2011
All joined to welcome Southeast Asian sensation Erik Pauhrizi this past Thursday for his first New York City solo debut. Prominent New York socialites included Paper Magazine's Editor in Chief Mickey Boardman , famed artists Anton Kandinsky , ULYSSES and William Harper, Ford model Monica Watkins, Rapper A.L.T.O., Supreme Court Judge Kenneth Thompson, CEO and Founder of MONALISA.COM Adam James, bloggers DOWNTOWN 500 and PETER VALCARCEL, the Mayor's Office, Swedish Television and the New Museum to mention just a few. Heavy trading and networking were overshadowed by the artist's jaw-dropping performance in which the final step completed two major works, Missing White and Lost Reward live. The frenzy of audience participation rocked the gallery's interior with feverish excitement. It took several hours for people to come down from a high not easily succeeded on such grand scale. Combining environmental music of Tristan Perich's 1-bit Symphony, Cleopatra's Procession and Sir David Lean's Lawrence Pauhrizi created an experience beyond his years. As a result the opening didn't wind down till near midnight. The opening excitement was preempted by two major works being sold just days after SAM (Singapore's National Art Museum) acquired three for their permanent collection. EXHIBITION SYNOPSIS (12/04/10-1/31/11)
About After Point, Line and Surface… - Hong Shaopei Solo Exhibition
As the young Taiwanese geometric minimalism artist representative, Hong Shaopei’s works are fun, lively, and they have involved a lot of philosophy.
At the very beginning inspired by Anton S. Kandinsky, Hong Shaopei chose to use acrylic paint as the original material for his art creation; different size of surface can hold difference size volume of acrylic paint in the air, which makes the works become big scale of gambling, representatively between lives as well.
Hong Shaopei’s works have a very strong impact on colors; every color is unique, and the grasps of the unique color all come from his deep heart. The unique color and the special art language established the unique specialty of his art. Perhaps it was this impact’s influence; Hong Shaopei’s new works can always bring hope and surprises to people. Nobody knows why he has chosen roses, golf, and chairs as the concrete objects. Of course, he also tried to create his works out of political source by painting Taiwanese and Chinese coins on canvas, but different from pop political, Hong Shaopei interprets his works with three-dimensional geometry.
Staring at Hong Shaopei’s works, you will find out he is not hiding or covering anything at all, the delicacy in his life and the passion in his creation have been completely exposed in his works. His works seem to have been made specifically for time and space, which can bend, extend, scatter or advance. Every work, no matter shelf works on the wall or installations, they all transit between reality and fantasy; in reality the works challenge vision and dimensions, and in fantasy they break through repression and reach for freedom. He can despise loneliness, because in Hong Shaopei’s art world, loneliness does not have a space to stand; instead he prefers enthusiasm and generosity, perhaps which is the particular factor and quality that a young Taiwanese artist who traveled thousands of miles to Beijing has.
Curious visitors always joke with Hong’s works, for instance; trying to get one coin off his painting of RMB series, or sitting on the chair of his Golf series; such interesting phenomenon also reflects that Hong’s works are simply capable of making communication with visitors, which is totally rare. The artist who understands humor will also understand the scale of it, after people’s laugh or intense discussion, unforgettable traces out of their hearts would always be left for us. | | http://www.artlinkart.com/en/exhibition/overview/165brBmp?x=s&a=ongoing&b=01 http://www.beijingtoday.com.cn/tag/nightlife | | 1/27/11 JOHN MICHAEL RUSNAK RECEIVES LETTER OF NOTIFICATION THAT HIS WORK IN PROGRESS, FEAR OF NOSTALGIA WILL BE THE PRIMARY EXHIBITION DURING THE OPENING CEREMONIES FOR THE FIRST UNESCO EVENT EVER TO BE HELD IN CUBA. | |
